NORRIS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES Tuesday January 6, 2009 7:00 p.m. Mayor Wallace called the meeting to order at seven o’ clock p.m. Mayor Wallace asked the council for any corrections to the minutes. Vice Mayor Dyer stated that he would like his comments from the December 11th meeting regarding the City Manager position to be changed. Vice Mayor Dyer read the changes and Mr. Brackins stated he would make the corrections. Council Member Mariner had corrections to his comments from the December 11th meeting regarding the City Manager position. Mr. Brackins stated he would make the corrections. Council Member Bates made a motion to accept the minutes as amended. Council Member Mariner seconded the motion. All Voted Aye. New Council Oath of Office Newly elected council members Jack Black, Loy Johnson, Chris Mitchell and incumbent Tommy Mariner took their places at the table and City Manager Eric Brackins swore in the 2009-2010 council. Newly elected Council Member Joy Wilson, unable to attend the swearing in meeting, will be sworn in prior to the February 9th meeting. City Manager Eric Brackins asked for nominations for Mayor. Tommy Mariner nominated Chris Mitchell for Mayor. Jack Black seconded the motion. There were no other nominations. All voted aye for the nomination of Mayor Mitchell. Nominations were requested fro Vice-Mayor. Council Member Black nominated Loy Johnson. Council Member Mariner seconded the motion. Council Member Johnson declined the nomination stating that due to her schedule she felt she might not be able to fulfill the duties. Council Member Johnson nominated Tommy Mariner for Vice Mayor. Mayor Chris Mitchell seconded the motion. There were no other nominations. All voted aye for the nomination of Vice Mayor Mariner. Vice Mayor Mariner thanked Representative Hackworth for attending the meeting. Representative Hackwotrth stated that he looks forward to working with the council and passed out the State of Tennessee Blue Book Directory. Mayor Mitchell asked the Council to come to the next meeting with any ideas they have. Vice Mayor Mariner made a motion to adjourn. Council Member Johnson seconded the motion. All voted Aye. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Eric Brackins City Manager
