The City of Norris has adopted multiple "I-Codes" published by the International Codes Council to serve as the requirements for the construction or alteration of buildings, the maintenance of property, or the installation commercial and mechanical plumbing throughout the city. As part of this program, the City of Norris requires a permit be obtained prior to work commencing for these types of activities. Click here to view the building permit application.
Why Should You Get a Permit?
It Keeps You Safe: The primary benefit of receiving a permit is that you get a licensed professional to inspect the project to ensure that the work is up to code. Adhering to building codes is the best way to be sure that your structure is safe for occupancy.
It Gives You Assurance: There are plenty zoning and building regulations that you may not be aware of. By getting a permit, you are getting validation from the city that what you are doing adheres to those regulations. If you perform work without a permit, you run the risk that the city may notice your project and require you to alter, or even remove, the work you have already performed.
It's Required: The bottom line is permits are required for certain projects. The easiest way to know if your project requires a permit is to call the city office.
