Location: 506 Upper Clear Creek Road, Norris, TN 37828 2026–2027 Permit Period Rifle range permits are valid for the City’s annual permit period, which runs from July 1 through June 30. A permit does not remain valid for one year from the date it is purchased. All permits issued during the 2026–2027 permit year will expire on June 30, 2027, regardless of the purchase date. For example, a permit purchased in January 2027 will still expire on June 30, 2027. A new permit must be purchased beginning July 1, 2027. Permit Fees
Children under age 18 are included with either permit at no additional charge. Daily permits are not available. Each adult entering or using the range must have a valid permit. Guests are not permitted. Online Applications and Permit Pickup Please allow at least 48 hours after submitting an online application before arriving to pick up the permit and range key. For a married-couple permit, the spouse must be present when the key is picked up. Click here to access the online application. Permits and keys may be picked up at the following locations: Norris City Community Building 20 Chestnut Drive Norris, TN 37828 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Norris Police Department Saturday and Sunday only 8:00–10:00 a.m. or 2:00–3:00 p.m. Weekend pickup is subject to officer availability. Officers may be unavailable while responding to a call. Hours of Operation The range is open from dawn until dusk, seven days a week, except:
The range is closed every Thursday from 7:00–11:00 a.m. for maintenance.
The range is closed during three scheduled watershed hunts each year. During these hunts, the entire watershed is closed to the public.
Range Facilities The range includes three covered shooting areas:
First pistol range: 15 yards, two lanes
Second pistol range: 50 yards, three lanes
Rifle range: 50 yards to approximately 200 yards, six lanes
Range Rules
Paper targets are the only targets permitted.
Automatic firearms are prohibited.
Ammunition larger than .50 caliber is prohibited.
Tracer rounds and other ammunition that could create a fire hazard are prohibited.
Trap, skeet, and clay-target shooting are prohibited.
Guests are not permitted.
Each adult entering or using the range must have a valid permit.
Permit holders must have their signed permit and range key with them or in their vehicle while at the range.
Anyone entering or using the range without a valid permit may be considered trespassing and may be subject to applicable local and state law.
