Invitation to Public Workshops: Local Parks and Recreation Fund Grant Project Dear Residents of Norris, The City of Norris is thrilled to announce our application for the Local Parks and Recreation Fund Grant through the State of Tennessee. This grant program has been instrumental in enhancing parks and recreation offerings across our state, and we are eager to leverage it to benefit our community. In March 2024, we submitted an Intent to Apply application outlining our proposed project scope, which focuses on addressing priority recommendations identified in our 2024 Parks and Recreation Master Planning. This project will be centered at the Norris Memorial Park and includes the demolition and removal of existing tennis courts, followed by the development of a new complex. The new complex will feature a tennis court, 3 or 4 designated pickleball courts, and a new outdoor basketball court (total dimension 230' x 270'). Additionally, upgrades to existing restroom facilities will ensure complete ADA compliance, and ADA compliant parking and walkways will be added to all new facilities.
To enhance this process, we are conducting public workshops to present the project scope and gather input from residents like you. Your feedback is crucial in shaping the final project. Workshop Dates and Location: Monday, May 6th at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9th at 12:00 p.m. Location: Norris Community Building, 20 Chestnut Drive
We encourage all residents to attend one of these workshops and share their thoughts. If you're unable to attend, written comments can be submitted to the City Office or via email to assistantcitymanager@norristn.gov. For more information, please contact the City Office at 865-494-7645. Thank you for your participation, and we look forward to creating a vibrant and inclusive parks and recreation space for our community together. Sincerely, Bailey Whited Assistant City Manager
